PDF outlets to get Rs 20/quintal extra

Mumbai , Date 15:- The decision to increase the commission of ration shopkeepers who distribute food grains to 7 crore beneficiaries in the state’s villages by Rs 20 per quintal from Rs 150 to Rs 170 was taken in a meeting held at the Mantralaya under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ajit Pawar. The meeting also decided to allow the sale of ten essential commodities approved by the Centre and available through NAFED through ration shops.

The decisions taken in the meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar have fulfilled the long-pending demand of ration shop owners, for which the shop owners’ organizations have expressed their happiness and thanked Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. 80 crore beneficiaries in the country and 7 crore in the state are provided with cheap food grains through ration shops. An effective system is in place to supply food grains from the warehouses of the Food Corporation of India under the jurisdiction of the Central Government to the ration shops in the cities and villages of the state. The state’s Civil Supplies Department, under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, is working to make this system faster, more efficient , transparent and reliable. For this, it was decided to set up a procurement, distribution , control and maintenance system that would be useful for Maharashtra by using technologies like smart ration cards, electronic weighing scales , GPS tracking and live monitoring . For this, the system currently in use in Gujarat will also be studied.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also informed that pending cases related to the ration distribution system in the state will be heard immediately and resolved . He also directed that food grains should be distributed to every ration card holder in the village as per the plan and action should be taken against the officials who are lax in this process .

Ration distribution office in each assembly constituency

An important decision was also taken to reorganize the ration distribution offices in Mumbai and Thane areas in such a way that there will be at least one office in each assembly constituency. Earlier, the ration distribution offices were reorganized in 1980. After the new reorganization, one zonal office and five new ration distribution offices will be created in Mumbai and Thane. Deputy Chief Minister and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ajit Pawar expressed his belief that this will help in making the civil supply system in Mumbai and Thane areas more efficient.

In this meeting held at the office of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in the Ministry, a presentation was made on the current status and future direction of the Food and Civil Supplies Department. The meeting was attended by Food and Drug Administration Minister Narhari Jirwal , Additional Chief Secretary of the Finance Department O. P. Gupta , Secretary of the Deputy Chief Minister’s Office Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh , Secretary of the Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department Jayashree Bhoj , Ration Distribution Controller Sudhakar Telang, etc., along with senior officers of the concerned department and office bearers and representatives of the ration shopkeepers’ associations .
